Disarming Parachinar means making Shia Muslims vulnerable to terrorist attacks

A notable of Shia majority Parachinar city of Kurrum Agency has expressed reservations on disarming Shia Muslims of the area saying that who will defend them against terrorist attacks because of bitter memories of 2004 when neither army nor government defended them against terrorist attacks.

“People of Parachinar will hand over their arms but who will guarantee their protection against terrorist attacks,” asked Syed Irshad Hussain Shah, former DIG Police who hail from Parachinar.
He said that he had contacted the government for help in 2004 but he got response that Turi and Bangash fight very well. Syed Irshad had made clear that didn’t mean that the government had no responsibility.
Syed Irshad said that people of Parachinar have no trust in the government and the FC because of their inaction against terrorists and they experienced their callousness when Taliban terrorists attacked Parachinar.
He said that Turi and Bangash of Parachinar were more loyal son of Pakistan than the rulers and the FC hence they are on the frontline of defence against aggression from Afghanistan. He said that security officials and government should not demand Parachinaris to hand over their arms that are meant for self-defence.
