Deployment of 350 Pakistan Army troops in Islamabad extended
The federal government yesterday extended deployment of 350 troops of Pakistan Army in Islamabad for another 90 days, according to a notification issued by the interior ministry.
On February 21, the chief commissioner Islamabad had requested the government to extend the term of deployment. The Ministry of Interior issued a notification extending stay of 350 troops in Islamabad, to aid civil administration in enforcement of the law.
These troops were first deployed in the federal capital ahead of 2014 sit-ins, under article 245 of the Constitution of Pakistan.
The term for deployment of troops has since been extended.
