Birth anniversary of Prophet of Islam being celebrated across Pakistan today
Eid-Miladul-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH), last apostle of God and Prophet of Islam, is being celebrated in all over Pakistan today.
Rallies are being staged in all towns and cities. Mosques, buildings and streets are decorated like a bridegroom. Naat are being recited to pay homage to the adoring Prophet of Islam.
Mehfil-e-Milad congregations are also being organized where religious scholars are addressing to highlight the salient features of the sacred life of Hazrat Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
It is also relevant to add here that majority of Sunni Muslims excluding Deobandis and Wahhabis believe 12th Rabiul Awwal of Islamic hijrah calendar was the date of birth of Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) while Shia Muslims believe that Holy Prophet was born on 17th Rabbiul Awwal hence Imam Khomeini, an eminent Shia jurisprudent, had introduced the concept of weeklong celebrations from 12th to 17th Rabiul Awwal and named that “Unity of Muslim Week.”
Since then, Shia Muslims welcomes Sunni Muslims in an oganised way by setting up reception camps offering them soft drinks and food. They also hold joint programmes during unity week where Sunni and Shia scholars express solidarity.
