Support for Sheikh al-Azhar’s Position on Yemen Ceasefire Is the Need of the Hour: Allama Nazir Abbas Taqvi

Shiite News: Central Additional Secretary General of Shia Ulema Council Pakistan, Allama Syed Nazir Abbas Taqvi, has said that supporting the position of Sheikh of Jami’a al-Azhar Dr. Ahmed al-Tayyeb regarding the ceasefire and establishment of peace in Yemen is the important need of the time.

In his message, Allama Nazir Abbas Taqvi said that our message is that the Muslim Ummah should unite and play its role for the protection of the Yemeni people, the provision of humanitarian aid, and the end of the war.

It is noteworthy that Sheikh al-Azhar Dr. Ahmed al-Tayyeb, appealing for the end of the wars and conflicts ongoing in the region, had proposed the formation of an immediate mediation and reconciliation committee comprising sincere personalities possessing reason and wisdom and desiring peace. The head of Yemen’s National Negotiating Committee, Muhammad Abdul Salam, also welcomed this appeal in his message addressed to Sheikh al-Azhar and expressed the hope that peace efforts will become a means of stopping the fighting and ending the difficulties of the people.

Earlier, Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi had also termed the statements of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Syed Mojtaba Khamenei and Sheikh al-Azhar as positive and serious guidance for peace and stability in the region, while the National Consultative Meeting of Millat-e-Tashayyu Pakistan held in Karachi had also demanded that Pakistan, instead of becoming a party to the Yemen-Saudi Arabia conflict, should play the role of a mediator under Article 40 of the Constitution.
