Shiite News: Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli, addressing his weekly ethics lesson at Masjid-e-Azam Qom Muqaddas, has said that Thani-e-Zahra Hazrat Zainab Kubra (peace be upon her) defeated the Umayyad government’s thought of predeterminism (jabr) in the court of Ubaidullah ibn Ziyad and clarified the true freedom, choice, and responsibility of man.

Addressing on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zainab (AS), he said that her sermon in Kufa was not merely a statement of sufferings but a deep theological and doctrinal defense. The Banu Umayyah used to take support of the doctrine of predeterminism to hide their atrocities and perpetuate their rule. When Ibn Ziyad mockingly said, “See what God did with your brother?” then Hazrat Zainab (AS), by saying “«مَا رَاَیْتُ اِلَّا جَمِیلًا»” (I saw nothing but beauty), clarified that God’s work is beautiful, but the killers are you, and you are also responsible for the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS). In this way, she tore the veil of false ideologies.

Referring to the words of Amir al-Mu’minin Hazrat Ali (AS) in Nahj al-Balagha, Ayatollah Javadi Amoli said that man should recognize the value of his existence. Man’s true price is Paradise, therefore he should not sell it in exchange for the mortal positions (lammaza) of the world. Explaining the reality of the human soul, he said that in Islam, the soul is neither male nor female; rather, it is treading the path of abstraction and perfection. He concluded his address with special prayers for the safety of the Islamic system, its survival under the shadow of Ahlul Bayt (AS), and the reappearance of Imam Zaman (AJ).
