Tawbah Is Not Just Remorse, Returning the Rights of the Rightful Is Also a Requirement: Allama Shabbir Hasan Maisami

Shiite News: While delivering the Friday sermon at Masjid wa Imambargah Baqiyatullah, DHA Karachi on October 9, 2026, renowned religious scholar Allama Dr. Shabbir Hasan Maisami held comprehensive and detailed discussion on the blessing of Allah, tawbah (repentance), trials, martyrs of the resistance, and the regional situation.

In his first sermon, Allama Maisami emphasized the importance of tawbah and clarified that tawbah is not just about feeling remorse in the heart; rather, if someone’s right has been violated or wealth has been seized, then returning their right and seeking forgiveness is also among the essential requirements of tawbah. He said that using Allah Almighty’s blessings in His disobedience is not appropriate in any way. Speaking about trials, he said that tests are a means of elevating the ranks of a believer, therefore in times of difficulty, instead of despair, one should hold fast to patience and prayer. Emphasizing the need to reform social attitudes, he said that one should not look down upon a sinner with contempt, nor should the doors of tawbah be closed upon them.

In his second sermon, Allama Shabbir Maisami paid tribute to Shaheed Syed Hassan Nasrallah and other martyrs of the resistance, saying that the example of the sacrifices of these martyrs is found in the martyrs of Karbala in Islamic history. Speaking about the situation in the Middle East, especially the Yemen and Saudi Arabia conflict, he said that in the light of Quranic teachings, the solution to this issue should be sought through negotiations and reconciliation. He appealed to the Government of Pakistan to play its positive and effective role in bringing the parties to the negotiating table for a ceasefire, while the OIC should also fulfill its responsibilities in this regard.
