Pakistan Ready to Mediate Between Iran and the United States: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif

Shiite News: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed hope for lasting peace between the United States and Iran, stating that Pakistan will continue sincere efforts to help reduce tensions in the region and advance the process of dialogue.

According to the details, during an important meeting with the Iranian leadership, the two sides held detailed discussions on bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran as well as the current situation in the region.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi also attended the meeting. Iran was represented by Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

Speaking during the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan was playing the role of an honest and sincere mediator between Iran, its neighboring countries and the United States. He reiterated that Islamabad was making every possible effort to prevent further escalation of tensions.

The prime minister said Pakistan remained fully focused on the sensitive issue and would continue to maintain hope for peace and pursue diplomatic efforts to help resolve the situation.
