Islamabad Political Tensions: Allama Arif Wahidi Calls for Dialogue and All-Party Conference

Shiite News: Prolonged political protests and road closures in Islamabad have severely disrupted daily life and caused significant difficulties for residents. Allama Arif Hussain Wahidi, central vice president of the Shia Ulema Council Pakistan, said in a detailed article that peaceful protest is a legal and democratic right, but preventing people from reaching workplaces, businesses and hospitals cannot be justified, as the lives and basic needs of citizens should not be compromised by political disagreements.

He said responsibility for the current tense situation does not rest solely with the opposition, but also lies with the government. According to Wahidi, the government should listen to the concerns of protesters and seek a negotiated solution rather than relying on confrontation or the use of force. He proposed that the government convene an All-Party Conference (APC) involving all political parties to hold meaningful consultations not only on the political crisis, but also on economic difficulties, national security and terrorism.

The Shia Ulema Council leader warned that if the country’s energies continue to be consumed by internal conflict and political division, hostile forces in the region could take advantage of Pakistan’s internal weaknesses. He called for politics to be used as a means of serving the public rather than simply pursuing power.

Wahidi further urged political differences not to turn into hostility and called on all sections of society, particularly religious and political groups, to play a constructive role in promoting peace, unity and national reconciliation.
