Priests Protest in Rome for Palestinian Children

Shiite News: More than 100 Christian priests from Italy and eight other countries held a protest march in the streets of Rome on Tuesday against the killing of Palestinian and Lebanese children, drawing attention to the humanitarian situation and the ongoing regional conflict.

The demonstration was organized under the international network “Priests Against Genocide.” The march began at the Santo Spirito Church near the Vatican and concluded outside the headquarters of Leonardo, an Italian aerospace and defense company.

At the center of the protest was a white shroud bearing the names of nearly 300 Palestinian and Lebanese children who, according to the organizers, were killed during the conflict. Carrying olive branches, the priests also criticized the arms race and rising military expenditures.

Don Rito Marsica, a member of the network, said that the objective of the initiative was to raise public awareness. He said that more than 2,500 priests in over 60 countries are currently speaking out against what they describe as crimes committed by Israel.

The organizers said the demonstration was intended to highlight the humanitarian consequences of the conflict and to call attention to the impact of military spending and arms transfers on civilians, particularly children.
