Pakistan, Iran Agree to Expand University Cooperation; Proposal for ‘Iqbal Lahori Room’ at University of Tehran

Shiite News: During an important meeting between the head of the University of Tehran and Pakistan’s new ambassador to Iran, both sides emphasized further promoting scientific, educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

University of Tehran President Mohammad Hossein Omid highlighted the historical, cultural and linguistic commonalities between Iran and Pakistan, saying there is considerable potential for expanding university and academic cooperation between the two countries. He stressed the need to further strengthen interactions between faculty members and students.

Pakistan’s Ambassador Imran Ahmed Siddiqui highlighted the importance of the shared cultural and intellectual heritage of the two countries and proposed establishing an “Iqbal Lahori Room” in Tehran. He also emphasized the need to translate memorandums of understanding into practical cooperation.

The meeting also included discussions on joint cooperation in emerging and strategic fields, including artificial intelligence. In this regard, Quaid-i-Azam University, the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), COMSATS University and the University of the Punjab were presented as key universities for cooperation.
