Khairpur Sectarian Rally and Violence Reflect Administrative Failure, Says Allama Syed Baqir Zaidi

Islamabad: Allama Syed Baqir Zaidi, spokesperson for the Jafaria Alliance Pakistan, described the rally held in Khairpur by a banned sectarian group and the violence that followed as clear evidence of administrative failure. He said the incident challenged the authorities’ commitment to maintaining peace and security during the month of Muharram.

Condemning the incidents, he stated that thousands of Majalis and Muharram gatherings were held peacefully across Sindh. However, on the 11th of Muharram, the same banned group organized a rally in Khairpur, allegedly attacked the homes of mourners, assaulted women, and damaged a Sabeel dedicated to Imam Hussain (AS). He said all of these incidents occurred in the presence of the administration, which failed to prevent them.

Allama Baqir Zaidi also referred to the stone-pelting incident targeting the Ashura procession in Karachi’s Malir area, saying such events clearly reflected the failure of the Sindh government and security institutions to maintain law and order.

He warned that sectarian extremist ideology poses a serious threat to peace and stability in Pakistan and alleged that the same mindset was also responsible for the attack on the Rangers depot in Karachi.
