Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri: Stopping Asad Qaiser at Islamabad Airport Violates Democratic Values

Shiite News: Chairman of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan and Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, stated that preventing former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser from traveling to Skardu for election campaigning and stopping him at Islamabad Airport is not only regrettable but also a clear violation of democratic values and political freedoms.

He said that while federal ministers and leaders of other political parties are actively conducting election campaigns in Gilgit-Baltistan, leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Tehreek Tahaffuz Ayeen Pakistan are continuously being targeted.

Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri further said that yesterday PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar Khan was stopped in Gilgit, and today Asad Qaiser was prevented from traveling. If leaders of a particular political party are deprived of their fundamental democratic right to campaign during elections, then claims of transparent elections and political equality lose their credibility.

He added that such actions do not eliminate political differences; instead, they create more hatred, division, and mistrust within society. The country needs stability, tolerance, and democratic traditions, rather than political revenge and one-sided restrictions.
