Resistance factions have expressed their sincere condolences to Hamas over the assassination of the chief commander of the Qassam Brigades in an Israeli airstrike against the Gaza Strip, stressing that targeted killings will not weaken resistance fighters’ determination but will rather increase their resolve, steadfastness and adherence to the struggle.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance movement, in a statement issued on Wednesday evening, said the assassination of Mohammed Odeh constitutes a blatant violation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and marks an utter disregard of all commitments made by mediator states.

It further noted that the constant targeting of residential neighborhoods and the assassinations of resistance fighters and commanders are contrary to humanitarian principles, stressing that such atrocities are taking place under the full support and direct aegis of the United States.

“The blood of our martyrs will further consolidate the Palestinian nation’s resolve not to relinquish its legitimate rights. The blood of our leaders and fighters serves as the driving force for the resistance front, and will further strengthen our fighters’ determination to confront the enemy, which understands nothing but the language of force,” the statement read.

For its part, the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement offered its profound condolences to Hamas and its military wing, the Ezzedine Qassam Brigades, as well as to all Palestinians, over the martyrdom of Odeh and members of his family in a treacherous Israeli crime.

“This is added to the black record filled with massacres, genocide, and brutality committed by this criminal entity, which continues to kill civilians, children, and women in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, disregarding all international and humanitarian agreements, charters, and laws, under the sight and hearing of a silent and complicit world,” Hezbollah said in a statement.

The Lebanese resistance movement emphasized that the martyred Qassam Brigades commander has joined his comrades on the path of martyrdom, those who built the flame of resistance in Palestine and, through their sacrifices, patience, sincerity and blood, created a generation of fighters and leaders prepared to make the most precious sacrifices for the sake of their dignity, the preservation of their sanctities, and the liberation of their land.

“Every attempt by the Zionist enemy to undermine this resistance by targeting its leaders and fighters will fail, and the banner of resistance will remain high as long as there is occupation, aggression, and injustice.”

Hezbollah finally renewed its full solidarity with the Palestinian people and their brave resistance, affirming that Gaza, which has offered tens of thousands of martyrs for the sake of its honor and dignity, will not be defeated and will not surrender.

Hamas on Wednesday officially confirmed that Mohammed Odeh, the newly appointed commander-in-chief of the group’s armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Tuesday evening.

In a press statement, Hamas mourned Odeh, who it said had been involved in the group’s military activities for more than 30 years and was considered among the early founders of its armed operations.

Odeh played a key role in planning, preparation and military development during various stages of retaliatory operations against the occupying Tel Aviv regime, it said.
