In a meeting with Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran on Sunday, Pezeshkian emphasized the principled policy of Iran in developing friendly relations with neighboring countries, especially the Persian Gulf states, and said Tehran seeks sincere, stable and good-neighborly relations with the Islamic countries of the region, but the United States and the Zionist regime have always tried to pit Islamic countries against each other through divisive projects and creating distrust.

He said major countries of the Islamic world must pave the way for the establishment of lasting peace, security and stability in the region by strengthening regional cooperation and interactions because if there is Islamic unity and convergence, the Zionist regime will never dare to attack and invade Islamic countries.

He described the military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran and the martyrdom of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, a group of high-ranking commanders, ministers, innocent students, and citizens of the country as a great crime that contradicts all humanitarian, legal, and international standards, and said these criminal acts are unacceptable to any awakened and free conscience in the world.

Referring to the sinister goals of the planners of these aggressions, Pezeshkian said the main goal of the United States and the Zionist regime in attacking the Islamic Republic of Iran was to create internal instability and attempt to weaken and overthrow the Islamic system, but they never imagined that the great, noble, and aware nation of Iran would stand by its system and country with such unity, authority, and loyalty, and would have such a broad and meaningful presence on the scene in support of the Islamic Republic and confronting the system of domination.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Pezeshkian praised the facilities and arrangements adopted by the Pakistani government in the field of border trade and economic cooperation, stating the growing trend of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries can be further developed.

Despite all the losses and costs caused by the war, these developments have brought Iran and Pakistan closer together, and now a good opportunity has been provided to expand the level of bilateral relations in the economic, scientific, cultural, and regional fields, a process that can also pave the way for strengthening peace, reducing tensions, and promoting constructive interactions between the nations of the region, he stated.

Pezeshkian also announced the readiness of Iran to expand scientific, academic and technological cooperation with Pakistan, saying the exchange of students, professors, scientific experiences and new technologies can contribute significantly to the promotion of scientific capacities and sustainable development of the two countries.

The Pakistani interior minister, for his part, expressed his pleasure at meeting with the Iranian president. Reviewing the developments and events of recent months and the military aggressions of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, he pointed to Pakistan’s efforts to help stop the conflicts and reduce tensions, saying that today, more than ever, the real dimensions of regional developments and the roles of various actors have become clear to public opinion, and recent circumstances have clearly shown how true friends and enemies are recognized at critical junctures; an issue that can be an important basis for future strategic decisions.
