Petrol Subsidy Pakistan: SMS Registration Method Explained

ISLAMABAD: The government has introduced the “Motorcycle Petrol Subsidy Relief Package 2026” to help low- and middle-income citizens cope with the recent rise in fuel prices.

In the latest review, petrol price increased by Rs137 to Rs458 and diesel by Rs184 to Rs520. To ease the burden, eligible motorcycle riders can now get up to Rs100 per liter discount on petrol, with 20 to 30 liters of subsidized fuel available per month. This relief could save individuals Rs2,000 to Rs5,000 every month.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Monthly income below Rs50,000–60,000
• Motorcycle registered in applicant’s name with verified number plate
• CNIC and mobile SIM registered under the same name
• Registration via SMS

Applicants can register by sending their CNIC and vehicle details to 9771 to receive a verification code. Soon, the government will also launch the “Fuel Subsidy App 2026”, allowing access to subsidized petrol at over 12,000 pumps using a QR code system.
