Shiite News: Haripur police have arrested a Shia youth and activist, Meesum Abbas, allegedly on the basis of a false First Information Report (FIR), sparking strong reactions from the local Shia community and rights activists.
According to sources, Meesum Abbas was taken into custody on Saturday (March 7). It is alleged that a few sectarian and disruptive elements, motivated by personal bias and hostility, lodged a false FIR against him because of his vocal support for Iran and oppressed people around the world.
Community members say that Abbas has consistently raised his voice in support of oppressed communities, but certain individuals allegedly targeted him through fabricated allegations, leading to his arrest.
Following the incident, members of the Shia community and various social circles have expressed anger and concern, describing the arrest as unjust. In a statement issued by concerned groups, it was said:
“Meesum Abbas has always spoken up for the oppressed. Unfortunately, some elements registered a false FIR against him.
We respectfully urge the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and Haripur Police to take immediate notice of this injustice, ensure fairness, and release Meesum Abbas without delay.”
Participants also appealed to the public to raise their voices for justice and stand in solidarity for the immediate release of Meesum Abbas.
