Death Toll in Gilgit Protest Rises to Ten After Injured Youth Succumb in Hospital

Shiite News: The death toll of protesters killed during demonstrations in Gilgit following the reported martyrdom of Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei has risen to ten after two more injured youths succumbed to their wounds in hospital on Thursday.
The youths had been injured during clashes when security forces opened fire on demonstrators protesting the martyrdom of the Iranian leader.
Earlier, six people were reportedly martyred on the spot while dozens sustained injuries during the incident.
Funeral prayers for the martyrs were held at the Central Imamia Jamia Mosque in Gilgit and were led by Syed Rahat Hussain.
Thousands of believers attended the funeral prayer and paid tribute to the deceased.
It is worth mentioning that protests erupted across the country, including in Gilgit, following the news of the Iranian Supreme Leader’s martyrdom.
During the demonstrations in Gilgit, security forces reportedly opened fire on protesters, leading to several casualties.
Later, four more injured youths succumbed to their wounds, raising the total number of martyrs to ten.
