Shiite News: An official of Afghanistan’s interim government told Al Jazeera that Pakistani positions were targeted in response to alleged airstrikes on the Afghan provinces of Paktika and Nangarhar.
Meanwhile, Lebanese broadcaster Al Mayadeen also confirmed retaliatory attacks along border areas, citing an Afghan military official.
According to Afghan security sources, Afghan forces claim to have seized control of 10 Pakistani military check posts and destroyed five more. The sources report an escalation in clashes across extensive areas along the Durand Line.
The news agency Reuters quoted an Afghan government spokesperson as saying that large-scale operations along the Pakistan border have been initiated.
Additionally, Afghan news agency Sadai Afghan (AVA) aired alleged videos of border attacks, quoting a Taliban official who claimed that “retaliatory actions” against the Pakistani military had begun in eastern provinces.
So far, no official response has been issued by Pakistan regarding these claims.
Defense analysts state that the situation is extremely sensitive, warning that failure to de-escalate tensions could have serious consequences for regional peace and stability.
