MWM Protests Against Pakistan’s Participation in So Called “Board of Peace”

Shiite News: Majlis Wahdat e Muslimeen (MWM) has strongly condemned the government’s decision to participate in the so called “Board of Peace” initiated by former US President Donald Trump, declaring it indefensible on principled, policy, and moral grounds.
The leaders stated that the Board of Peace has been controversial since its inception. The concept of imposing an externally designed administrative structure on Gaza after the war is, in reality, a conspiracy to deprive the Palestinian people of their fundamental right to self determination.
They added that appointing an individual whose political career is marked by war threats, global conflicts, and aggressive policies against oppressed nations to any forum in the name of peace is tantamount to mocking the global conscience.
These views were expressed by MWM leaders while addressing a protest demonstration held after Friday prayers outside Khoja Jama Masjid.
The protest was attended by a large number of demonstrators, including Allama Rifaqqat Ali Najafi, Nasir Hussaini, Naushad Ali, and Yawar Abbas of Tehreek e Bedari e Ummat.
The protesters raised strong slogans against the United States and Israel and demanded that the government immediately withdraw from Trump’s so called Board of Peace.
The speakers emphasized that Pakistan’s participation in this board is an unfortunate step against national sovereignty, public sentiment, and principled foreign policy.
They warned that a government willing to sacrifice national interests to appease global powers forfeits public trust.
They further stated that handing over reconstruction, security, and political oversight to external forces reflects a clear colonial mindset.
Pakistan’s involvement is particularly alarming because a plan initially presented as a limited reconstruction mechanism for Gaza after genocide is now being openly expanded.
The speakers noted that the statements and proposed charter of the board’s main patrons—the United States and Israel—indicate ambitions extending far beyond Palestine, deliberately sidelining the United Nations.
Pakistan has historically relied on the UN and international law, especially on issues like Kashmir, where it consistently emphasizes legal legitimacy.
They termed it an incomprehensible contradiction to defend the centrality of the United Nations on one hand and participate in initiatives that weaken it on the other.
They reaffirmed that the Palestinian cause has always been rooted in self determination and UN endorsed legal status, not externally imposed governance models.
Concluding the protest, the leaders warned that by associating with plans that undermine Palestinian sovereignty and the UN system, Pakistan risks severe damage to its moral credibility and strategic coherence.
They demanded that the government immediately reverse its decision, take the nation into confidence, and clarify that Pakistan’s foreign policy will be shaped by national interests and principles of global justice, not imperial pressure.
Otherwise, they warned, a nationwide peaceful protest movement would be launched.
