Shiite News: Founder and Patron-in-Chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, emphasized the ethical responsibilities associated with the use of social media, stating that it is a powerful medium of expression that can promote both good and harm, and therefore must be used with truthfulness, responsibility, and high moral values. He was addressing office-bearers of Minhaj Youth League.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri stated that in the modern era, social media has become an effective tool for shaping public opinion, education, religious outreach, and social reform. When used constructively, it can play a vital role in spreading knowledge, awareness, and peace, whereas irresponsible and unethical use leads to social disorder, hatred, and division.
He stressed the importance of verifying information before sharing it, warning that fake news and negative propaganda damage not only individuals but society as a whole. He added that Islam teaches honesty, trustworthiness, and protection of others’ dignity, principles that must also govern digital behavior.
Addressing the youth, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri urged them to use social media for learning, research, character-building, and positive dialogue rather than wasting time, character assassination, and purposeless arguments.
He said promoting digital ethics is one of the most urgent needs of the time, adding that courtesy, tolerance, and respect on social media are the foundations of a civilized and peaceful society.
