SUC Announces Support for Constitution-Violating PPP Candidate in By-Election
Shiite News: The Shia Ulema Council has announced its support for the candidate of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)—the party responsible for passing the recent controversial constitutional amendment—in the upcoming National Assembly by-election in Dera Ghazi Khan.
According to details, officials in Dera Ghazi Khan declared full support for PPP candidate and former Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa in the NA-185 by-election.
Senior leaders of Shia Ulema Council Pakistan, including Syed Nadeem Haider Naqvi and Syed Ali Huzoor Naqvi, along with the Divisional President of Shia Ulema Council Dera Ghazi Khan, formally endorsed Sardar Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa.
The announcement has sparked debate, as the Shia Ulema Council promotes the cause of democracy while simultaneously backing a party accused of violating the sanctity of the constitution.
