Shiite News: Reports have surfaced that Punjab’s Provincial Law Minister, Rana Iqbal, recently held a secret meeting with leaders of proscribed militant organizations, including the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) and Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP). Among those present was notorious extremist leader Maavia Azam Tariq.
Sources say that these banned outfits have long histories of involvement in sectarian violence, bombings, and attacks on public places and worship sites.
Analysts warn that if high-ranking government officials are maintaining ties with such individuals, it poses a serious threat to national security and undermines the ongoing fight against terrorism.
Political and civil society observers have raised critical questions, asking how long the state will continue its lenient policy toward these extremist networks and when their financial, political, and social patronage will finally be dismantled.
Experts stressed that to safeguard national security and interfaith harmony, the government must adopt a transparent stance on this issue and take the public into confidence regarding its policy toward banned organizations.
