Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Aeen Pakistan Announces Nationwide Protest Movement
Shiite News: Leader of the Opposition-designate in the National Assembly and Senate, and head of Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Aeen Pakistan (Movement for the Protection of the Constitution), Mahmood Khan Achakzai, along with Vice Chairman Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari, have announced a nationwide protest movement.
In a joint video statement, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Chairman of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, and Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari, head of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM), declared that the protest movement would commence on Sunday, November 9.
Allama Raja Nasir Abbas expressed deep concern over the proposed constitutional amendments, saying that more powers have been handed over to the “unelected elite.”
He emphasized that it is now the duty of the Pakistani people to rise and raise their voices against this dangerous constitutional manipulation.
Opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai stated that through this movement, the opposition alliance would demonstrate that the will of the people of Pakistan must remain the final authority.
He added, “I have taken the oath to protect the Constitution at least five times, yet today, our own parliament is attacking it.”
Achakzai further said that since the parliament is supposed to represent the people, the opposition has no choice but to appeal directly to the masses.
“The way the current regime is assaulting the Constitution and shaking the foundations of Pakistan leaves us with no other option,” he warned.
