Shiite News: In Peshawar, extremist elements openly raised anti-Shia slogans during the funeral of Eid Nazar Farooqi, the slain head of the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) Kurram chapter, who was recently killed as a result of his own militant activities.
According to reports, neither the district administration nor the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government took any notice of the incident.
Shia scholars and community leaders have strongly condemned this provocative act, warning that such inaction could destabilize the city’s fragile peace.
Addressing the issue, Maulana Abid Hussain Shakri, the Imam of Jamia Syed Arif Hussain Al-Hussaini in Peshawar, stated that the National Action Plan was openly violated during the funeral.
He said the government’s silence over the hateful slogans has raised serious questions about its commitment to curbing sectarian extremism.
Maulana Shakri asked why the authorities fail to see these terrorists and warned that if this approach continues, the law and order situation in Peshawar will deteriorate further.
He demanded immediate action against such hate-mongering elements to prevent a resurgence of sectarian tensions in the provincial capital.
