MWM GB Assembly Member Kaneez Fatima Releases 5-Year Performance Report

Shiite News: Member of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, Ms. Kaneez Fatima, has released her five-year performance report, highlighting her contributions to women’s rights, welfare, and social development.
The report praises her efforts in presenting several key resolutions unanimously passed by the Assembly, including women’s inheritance rights, extension of the Assembly’s tenure, establishment of the offices of Chief and Women Ombudsman, and appreciation for social activist Roshan Bibi.
She also introduced a significant private member bill — “Gilgit-Baltistan Women’s Property Rights Enforcement Bill 2022” — which is currently under government review.
As Vice President of the Women Parliamentary Caucus, she played an active role in legislative and empowerment initiatives. She also raised multiple starred questions on forest conservation, flood rehabilitation, education, and the ban on corporal punishment.
Kaneez Fatima effectively chaired the Planning and Development Standing Committee and served as a member of the Social Welfare Standing Committee, conducting meetings regularly.
The report described her parliamentary performance as a role model for women legislators, acknowledging her active contribution to social welfare, human rights, and youth development as Parliamentary Secretary for two years.
