Decision to Send Peacekeeping Troops to Gaza Will Be Made by Parliament: DG ISPR

Shiite News: Director General ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that Pakistan’s security is guaranteed by its armed forces and there is no question of providing such a guarantee to Kabul.
In a detailed briefing to senior journalists, he said, “Taliban are playing football with the severed heads of our security personnel — how can we hold talks with them?”
He clarified that Pakistan never celebrated the Taliban’s return to power and that clashes between Pakistan’s security forces and Taliban-affiliated groups continue. Operations against TTP, BLA, and other terrorist outfits are ongoing.
Regarding drone operations, the DG ISPR stated that Pakistan has no drone agreement with the United States, nor has any formal complaint been received from the Taliban regime. He reiterated that U.S. drones do not operate from Pakistani soil.
Criticizing the Taliban regime, he said it continues to facilitate terrorist elements. “In Istanbul, we clearly told them that countering terrorism is their responsibility. Some elements fled to Afghanistan during our counterterrorism operations — they should be handed over to us for legal action.”
He further explained that terrorism, drug trade, and TTP’s network are interconnected, with profits from opium smuggling being shared among warlords and criminal groups.
The DG ISPR emphasized that any decision to deploy troops to Gaza will be made by the Parliament, not by the military.
Commenting on Pakistan’s western borders, he said that the Afghan frontier stretches over 2,600 kilometers, making it impossible to establish check posts everywhere. “Sometimes, hostile border guards help terrorists cross into Pakistan and attack our security posts — such attacks are always responded to.”
He concluded by saying, “In the battle for truth (Ma’raka-e-Haqq), the government, cabinet, military, and political leadership have made joint decisions. If any provincial government talks about negotiating with terrorists, that only spreads confusion. The Taliban play football with the heads of our martyrs — how can there be any talks with them?”
