Shiite News: A new chapter has opened in Pakistan–Iran air connectivity as Iran Air’s first direct flight received a grand and emotional welcome at Quetta International Airport.
According to the Pakistan Airports Authority, Iran Air flight 826 (A319) arrived in Quetta on Thursday night, originating from Mashhad and Zahedan, where it was received with a traditional water cannon salute on arrival.
The inaugural ceremony, held at the airport’s State Lounge, was graced by Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail as the chief guest. The Iranian Consul General and several dignitaries from both nations also attended the event. The ceremony began with the national anthems of Pakistan and Iran, followed by speeches highlighting the strengthening of brotherly relations between the two neighboring Muslim countries.
According to the official announcement, Iran Air will now operate weekly flights to Quetta every Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. The inaugural flight carried 30 passengers to Quetta and returned with 120 passengers on the outbound leg.
Sources said the new flight service would facilitate trade, religious, and cultural exchanges and significantly benefit pilgrims traveling to Iran via Mashhad and Zahedan.
