Gilgit Clerics Demand Immediate Crackdown on Takfiri Elements
Shiite News: A significant and wide-ranging conference of Friday prayer leaders and religious scholars from the Gilgit Division and District Astore was held at the Jamia Masjid Shaheed Agha Ziauddin, Gilgit, under the chairmanship of Agha Syed Rahat Hussain Al-Hussaini.
Imams and scholars from Nagar, Hunza, Haramosh, Jalalabad, Bagrote, Bargu, Shirot, Gahkuch, and Astore participated, analyzing the international, national, and regional situation in depth.
Participants expressed grave concern over Israel’s continued violation of peace agreements and aggression in Gaza, urging the United Nations to play an effective and practical role in protecting Palestinian rights and ensuring global peace.
Discussing domestic affairs, scholars condemned attempts by provincial authorities in Karachi to falsely implicate Shia citizens and redirect the focus of counter-terror operations.
They also criticized the state’s failure to curb the activities of notorious takfiri figures such as Aurangzeb Farooqi and Ahmed Ludhianvi, demanding their immediate arrest for spreading sectarian hatred and inciting violence.
The conference further resolved to strengthen relations with Sunni brethren, promote inter-sect unity, and resist divisive plots aimed at undermining peace in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The participants agreed to convene quarterly meetings among regional Imams and scholars to coordinate responses to religious, social, and security challenges.
In his concluding address, Agha Rahat Hussaini stated, “Unity among Muslims is the foundation of real peace in this region. Only through solidarity can we transform Gilgit-Baltistan into a true haven of harmony and progress.”
He called upon law enforcement agencies to act decisively against those spreading discord and urged the youth to use social media positively, build strong ties with scholars, and promote messages of love, tolerance, and brotherhood in society.
