Silence over unlawful detention of Allama Wajdani is alarming
Shiite News: As 190 days of unjust detention under Saudi custody complete, deep concern spreads across Pakistan’s religious and public circles over the continued imprisonment of Quetta’s respected cleric, Allama Ghulam Hasnain Wajdani.
According to reports, Allama Wajdani was taken into custody by Saudi authorities at Taif Airport on April 19, 2025, without any formal charges or trial. To date, no legal proceedings have been initiated, nor has he been released — making his detention a clear violation of basic human and legal rights.
Sources confirm that Saudi officials have not provided any explanation for the arrest, while the Government of Pakistan has yet to take any effective diplomatic or legal action for his release. This inaction has sparked anger and disappointment among the Shia community, scholars, and human rights advocates.
Religious leaders have urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pakistan’s diplomatic institutions to immediately engage with Saudi authorities to secure Allama Wajdani’s release.
Scholars and devotees have also offered prayers.
