Bhit Shah: Ghadeer Monument Vandalized, Protest Calls for Action
Shiite News: A monument commemorating Eid e Ghadeer at Ghadeer Chowk in Bhit Shah was vandalized on Sunday in an attack allegedly carried out by members of the banned sectarian outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba.
Eyewitnesses claimed the incident was led by cleric Maulvi Muhammad Aamir Farooqi, who, along with his supporters, reportedly damaged the symbolic hand structure of the monument using hammers.
The monument had been erected to mark the historic event of Ghadeer Khumm, where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), returning from his farewell pilgrimage, is believed to have gathered thousands of companions, raised the hand of Imam Ali (A.S.), and declared him as his successor and guardian.
According to reports, cleric Aamir Farooqi had previously criticized the Ghadeer Chowk monument in public speeches, describing it as offensive and warning that it would be demolished.
The incident has drawn strong condemnation from religious scholars and community leaders, who have urged the government and law enforcement agencies to take immediate action. They demanded the arrest of those involved and warned that failure to do so could trigger widespread protests.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the attack or any subsequent investigation.
