PM’s visit disappoints flood victims in Gilgit-Baltistan: Opposition Leader Kazim Maisam
Shiite News: Opposition Leader in Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly and MWM parliamentary leader, Kazim Maisam, expressed deep disappointment over Prime Minister’s recent visit to the flood-hit region.
He criticized the PM’s vague speech, noting the absence of any mention of the promised Rs. 4 billion aid, clear plans for rehabilitation, infrastructure reconstruction, or addressing critical issues like CPEC trade route closure and ongoing protests.
Maisam slammed the government for failing to assess the actual flood damage, stating that the visit seemed more like a political show than a serious relief effort.
He emphasized that over Rs. 20 billion in losses demand immediate, concrete actions including protective barriers, new housing for victims, and compensation for damaged crops.
He further stated that inclusion of GB in the carbon credit program would have shown genuine commitment. Without meaningful steps, there is little hope for affected communities.
