Shiite News: Chairman Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen Pakistan Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri has said in a statement issued from the media cell that attempts to stop the All Parties Conference is condemnable.

The atmosphere of political dissent and democratic consultation in the country is already under pressure and censorship, in such a situation, the intervention of the administration and institutions to stop the All Parties Conference called by the opposition alliance is very regrettable and reflects undemocratic behavior.

He said that putting pressure on the hotel administration is tantamount to preventing the opposition parties.

This act is not only against the spirit of democracy but also a clear violation of the constitutional right to assembly and freedom of expression.

Allama Nasir Abbas said that it should be remembered that despite political opposition during the previous government, the opposition had the freedom to organize its activities, be it rallies or all-party conferences. If these democratic traditions are being violated today, it is proof that state institutions have become subordinate to a particular political narrative.

He clarified that the beauty of democracy lies in dissent, and if the voice of the opposition is suppressed, this system will not be democratic, but will continue to change into an authoritarian style of governance.

Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri demanded that the government and state institutions refrain from all illegal measures to stop political activities within their constitutional limits.

Holding an All Parties Conference is the legal, political and democratic right of the opposition, and its prohibition will be considered an attack on democracy.

He said that the future of the state should not be based on intellectual coercion but on the basis of free dialogue, tolerance and disagreement.
