Shiite News: A protest demonstration was held in Quetta for the release of Imam Juma Quetta Allama Ghulam Hasnain Wijdani.

The demonstration was held after Friday prayers at the Central Jamia Masjid Imambargah Kalan located on Mekangi Road in the provincial capital of Balochistan, Quetta, in which a large number of scholars and the public participated.

The protesters demanded that the Pakistani government take immediate and effective diplomatic steps for the release of the religious scholar and Imam Juma Quetta Allama Ghulam Hasnain Wijdani, who has been imprisoned in Saudi Arabia for the past three months without any crime or wrongdoing.

The participants held placards and banners with slogans like “Allama Wijdani ko rha karo”, “Alam e deen ki giriftari zulm hai” and “Saudi Arabia apna rawiya drust kray”.

The speakers said in their address:

“Allama Ghulam Hasnain Wijdani is known as a peaceful, unity-loving and scholarly figure not only in Quetta but also across Pakistan. His unjustified arrest is an attack on the unity of the Ummah.”

A large number of elders, children, youth and women participated in the demonstration, which shows the sensitivity of the issue and the anxiety at the public level. The speakers appealed to the government of Pakistan to:

“Ensure the release of Allama Wijdani by intervening immediately at the diplomatic level, so that the unrest spread among the scholars and religious communities should end.”
