Shiite News: Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen Pakistan’s central leaders, provincial and district officials, while addressing a joint press conference held at the Lahore Press Club along with mourners and members of local associations in connection with Muharram Al-Haram, said that they will not tolerate any restrictions on mourning. Religious freedom is a constitutional and legal right of all schools of thought in Pakistan.

MWM Central Secretary for Political Affairs Syed Asad Abbas Naqvi, Syed Hassan Raza Kazmi, Syed Hussain Zaidi, Sheikh Imran, Maulana Zaheer Karbalai, Syed Fashat Bukhari, Seth Adnan and other leaders addressed the press conference.

He said that Muharram 1447 AH has begun and as soon as the days of mourning have begun, the gatherings and processions of mourning are facing various restrictions and obstacles, which is unacceptable.

The leaders said that Pakistan is currently facing serious problems and there is a dire need for national unity at this critical time, but unfortunately some elements are trying to turn Pakistan into a sectarian state.

He said that the obstacles in the way of mourning Sayyid al-Shuhada are condemnable, questions are being asked from the founders of the gatherings in the name of affidavits and schedules of mourning gatherings, which is very sad.

He said that restricting domestic gatherings in the name of SOPs is tantamount to violating the sanctity of the chadar and Chardevari. We warn the government that if such actions are not stopped, public anxiety will increase.
