Shiite News: A seminar titled “Iran’s Perspective on Regional and Global Issues” was held under the auspices of the School of Politics and International Relations, Quaid-e-Azam University.

The seminar was addressed by Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Reza Amiri Moqadam.

Assistant Professor Dr. Nazish Mahmood welcomed the ambassador. Faculty members, scholars and students attended the seminar.

The seminar began with the opening remarks of Professor Dr. Syed Qandeel Abbas, who contextualized Iran’s role in the changing political landscape of the Middle East.

He highlighted Iran’s influence in regional conflicts, especially Palestine, Yemen, Iraq and Syria.

Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal welcomed the Iranian ambassador and highlighted Iran’s strategic relevance in regional geopolitics.

He discussed Iran’s emerging relations with neighboring countries, especially the potential for cooperation with Pakistan and Turkey through platforms like the Economic Cooperation Organization.

Dr. Reza Amiri Moqadam presented a comprehensive overview of Iran’s foreign policy since the Islamic Revolution.

He reflected on the ideological polarity of the Cold War era, the unipolar dominance of the West, and the current crisis of legitimacy facing global institutions like the United Nations.

He emphasized that the indicators of contemporary power lie in science, technology and economic development.

Despite decades of sanctions, Iran has made remarkable progress in scientific fields such as nanotechnology and has made education, innovation, and regional cooperation a priority.

The Ambassador also answered students’ questions on topics ranging from Iran’s nuclear doctrine and its peaceful enrichment program to the status of women in Iranian society, its relations with India and Pakistan, and broader regional stability.

His clear answers fostered an atmosphere of trust, dialogue, and mutual understanding.

The Ambassador invited SPIR faculty and students to visit the Iranian Embassy for study tours and in-depth engagements.

The session formally concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Seyyed Qandil Abbas, who thanked the Ambassador, faculty, and all participants for making the event a success.
