Israeli soldier wounded in al-Quds stabbing operation
A Palestinian youth carried out a stabbing operation at Bab al-Silsila (Chain Gate) in occupied al-Quds on Friday evening, injuring an Israeli occupation police officer before being shot and killed on site.
The Israeli occupation police acknowledged the incident, confirming that one of its officers was wounded and stating that the person carrying out the operation was “neutralized,” a term commonly used to denote extrajudicial execution.
Following the operation, Al Mayadeen’s correspondent reported a heavy Israeli security deployment across occupied al-Quds, with occupation forces launching extensive search and lockdown operations in the area.
Resistance factions praise operation
The Palestinian Resistance Committees welcomed the stabbing, calling it a legitimate response to the ongoing genocide against the people of Gaza. In a statement, the Committees declared that the operation highlighted the occupation’s repeated failure to contain or deter Palestinian resistance fighters, urging Palestinians in al-Quds, the West Bank, and the occupied territories of 1948 to escalate resistance activities.
Similarly, the al-Mujahideen Movement praised the attack, framing it as part of the Palestinian people’s “natural and continuous response” to the war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in Gaza, al-Quds, and the West Bank.
The group asserted that the operation sent a fresh security blow to the Israeli occupation’s intelligence and military apparatus.
“The operation reaffirms the failure of all attempts to crush the resistance or suppress its will,” the statement read, encouraging the Palestinian people and resistance fighters to intensify their operations and strategic strikes against the Israeli occupation.
Escalating armed resistance across West Bank
The occupied West Bank witnessed a significant escalation as Palestinian Resistance factions intensified armed operations against Israeli occupation forces.
The surge coincided with ongoing Israeli military incursions and assaults spreading to towns in both the northern and southern parts of the territory.
In the town of Arraba, southwest of Jenin, Palestinian fighters hurled locally made explosive devices at Israeli military vehicles, while occupation forces launched large quantities of tear gas against Palestinian youths. Heavy helicopter activity was also reported over the western countryside of Jenin during these confrontations.
Israeli military incursions, confrontations
The al-Quds Brigades – Jenin Brigade, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, confirmed direct confrontations with Israeli infantry forces, stating that they “rained bursts of gunfire down on the forces, resulting in confirmed hits.”
Earlier in the day, the group’s al-Yamoun unit detonated a directed Sijjil explosive device targeting an Israeli Namer armored vehicle, causing confirmed casualties. This was followed by the use of a KJ37 ground explosive device against Israeli infantry units.
Meanwhile, the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades carried out a shooting operation targeting the Tayasir training camp and checkpoint east of Tubas in the northern West Bank.
