Pakistan categorically rejects pro-Israeli perception on HR Council’s Palestine resolution
Shiite News: Pakistan has reacted to some media speculations regarding the recent Human Rights Council resolution on the issue of occupied Palestinian territories and has called reports regarding the approval of the said resolution false.
In this regard, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry statement said that “the resolution under discussion is an annual joint initiative of the Group of Representatives of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Geneva, which focuses on holding the Israeli government accountable for its actions in the occupied Palestinian territories.
According to the established procedure, the resolution is presented after full negotiations, with the Palestinian delegation declaring its agreement to the text and the approval of the entire Group of Representatives of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
In the Human Rights Council, resolutions related to the occupied Palestinian territories are advanced by the collective endorsement of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, based on Palestinian priorities.
This process was completely adhered to in the resolution that was adopted at the recent session of the Human Rights Council.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry has said that “Pakistan does not recognize the Israeli government and does not talk to it in multilateral institutions in principle.
Therefore, any speculation made in this regard or suggestion that the provisions of the resolution are being proposed to align with the preferences of the Israeli government is baseless.”
“Pakistan’s representative offices in New York and Geneva are fully aligned with the decisions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Palestinian position, therefore Islamabad warns against any attempt to distort Pakistan’s historic and unwavering position on Palestinian aspirations.”
