Honorary degree to Zakir Naik strongly opposed

Shiite News: The formal approval of awarding honorary certificate to Dr. Zakir Naik was given in the Syndicate meeting of the University.

Three members of the syndicate expressed their reservations and opposition in this regard. The three members have been nominated by the Government of Sindh in the University of Karachi.

Member Sindh Assembly and Member Syndicate Sadia Javed, Shahida Rahmani, and Sahibzada Moazzam Qureshi opposed the awarding of this degree. The opposing members disputed Dr. Zakir Naik’s views on women.

Dr. Zakir Naik received the honorary degree of PhD from the Governor’s Secretariat on October 1. The Syndicate approved the conferment of honorary degrees on him by a majority vote.

Dr. Zakir Naik was recommended by Chancellor of Jamia Kamran Tesori to confer an honorary degree of Ph.D.
