Situation tense in Parachinar, Jirga efforts failed
Shiite News: The situation in the tribal district of Kurram again tense for the last four days, the efforts of the administration and the Jirga to stop the clashes have not been successful yet.
The efforts of the administration and the Grand Jirga to stop the clashes that have been going on for four days in the tribal district of Pakistan have not been successful yet and the situation is still tense in different areas of the district on Tuesday.
According to Kurram Police officials, heavy firing was going on in Balish Khel, Kharkle, Pada Chamkani, Kadman, Kunj Alizai and Umqabal till late on Tuesday night and the parties are targeting their opponents with light and heavy weapons.
A dispute had started between two families of village Bushehra and Ahmedzai in Kurram district over the construction of fronts, but the local elders managed to stop the dispute.
Later, the situation worsened when a landmine exploded in an area.
After this blast, the firing started again in Bushehra where the situation was brought under control once again, but clashes started between the tribes in other four places of Kurram, which then spread to Kurram Bala and Kurram Lower.
Locals said that there is fear in the area and gunshots were heard throughout the night.
Deputy Commissioner Kurram Javed Mehsud has said that the local administration is making efforts for a ceasefire and an important jirga is being held on Tuesday as well, after which it is hoped that a ceasefire will be achieved.
Tribal leader Sajid Tori said that the elders of Hangu, Orakzai, Kohat and other areas have tried hard to stop the clashes in the Grand Jirga, but they have not succeeded and on Tuesday the local elders from both sides will try again.
He said that until the state does not play its role in it, these problems will continue. Just vacating the fronts and putting police and security personnel there gives a temporary ceasefire but does not try to solve the problem at hand.
