eid ghader shiitenewsShiites’ areas across Pakistan wore bride look on Saturday night in what appeared to celebrate Eid-e-Ghadeer that is observed on Zilhajj 18 every year according to lunar calendar.
Extraordinary lights, balloons, buntings were seen in the lanes and streets. Mosques and Imam Bargahs were decorated with lights and banners inscribed with Eid Greeting messages.

Soon after Maghrib and Isha (Maghribaen) prayers, congregations were held across Pakistan. Aamal-e-Shab-e-Ghadeer was performed.

Allama Sajid Naqvi of Shia Ulema Council of Pakistan, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, Allama Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi of Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Fiqah-e-Jafaria, senior scholars such as Allama Shaikh Mohsin Najafi, Allama Haider Ali Javadi, Allama Shaikh Hassan Salahuddin, Allama Syed Javad Naqvi and officials of Haiyat-e-Aimma-e-Masajid Pakistan have greeted the Muslims and in particular Shia Muslims around the world on the eve of Eid-e-Ghadeer.

It is relevant to add here that Eid-e-Ghadeer is celebrated to commemorate the anniversary of announcement of wilayat of Amir al Maumineen Imam Ali (AS). Ghadeer-e-Khum is a place between Mecca and Medina where Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), the last apostle and Prophet of Allah, had given a sermon to the pilgrims after Hajjatul Widaa, his last pilgrim to the House of Allah in Mecca. In that sermon on Zilhajj 18, 10 A.H., he announced that Ali (AS) is Maula (master) of all those whose Maula he is. He prayed in favour of Ali (AS) and his followers and supporters and he cursed the enemies and opponents of Hazrat Imam Ali (AS).

It is also worth mentioning here that some quarters try to make it a controversial issue notwithstanding the fact that Sunni traditions and historians confirm and endorse the announcement of Ghadeer-e-Khum. Some quarters try to create tension saying that Zilhajj 18 is the day of martyrdom of Hazrat Usman, third Muslim Caliph (ruler) after the sad demise of Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW). As a matter of fact, insurgents had not died of swords wounds on 18th of Zilhajj. Ghadeer-e-Khum is an Eid that brings followers of Wilayat closer to each other thus it is greatest Eid that encourages unity of Muslims.
