Afghan warplanes bombed strongholds of the Taliban militants in the Central Ghour province, which left at least 25 fighters killed, Ghour Governor Seyed Anvar Rahmati announced on Monday.

Rahmati said that the latest air attack was carried out against Taliban positions in the town of Pasaband, which also led to the killing of a former Taliban governor identified as Mulla Farooq.

Rahmani further added that 13 fighters were also injured in the air attack.

The Afghan military and security forces have recently intensified operations against the militants groups across the country to root out the foreign-backed insurgency.
