Hamas delegation in Moscow seeks to display strong ties with Russia

A delegation of Hamas officials have met Russian diplomat Mikhail Bogdanov in Moscow, marking the groups second trip to Russia since the war began.

“If we talk about Israel and Hamas, Hamas was the first to visit Moscow after the start of the hostilities on October 7. Their visit took place at the end of October, and it was an important image story for Hamas,” Al Jazeera correspondent Yulia Shapovalova, reported from Moscow.

“It was important for them to demonstrate that they were welcomed here, that they were not in isolation, and that they actually saw Moscow as their friend and partner.”

The meeting today included discussions of how to achieve a ceasefire and the need for Hamas to release three captives with Russian citizenship.
