Five killed, at least 12 injured in Chilas bus attack

At least five passengers were killed, and 15 others injured when unidentified assailants opened fire on a bus near Hadar in Chalas located in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

The assailants, who were riding motorcycles, fired indiscriminately at the bus which was travelling from Gilgit to Rawalpindi.

As a result, five passengers died on the spot, while 12 others were injured.

Some injured are in critical condition, and they were shifted to the nearby hospital for treatment.

The assailants managed to escape from the scene after the attack.

A search operation had been launched by the police to apprehend the culprits.

The motive behind the attack is still unknown. However, the authorities are not ruling out the possibility of terrorism.

GB has been a relatively peaceful region in recent years. However, there have been a few attacks by militants in the past. The latest attack has caused widespread fear and panic among the residents of Chilas.
