‘Nothing to hide at al-Shifa Hospital’ Gaza health ministry spokesman
The spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Ashraf al-Qudra, said that “there are only doctors, patients and displaced people” inside al-Shifa Hospital, shortly after Israeli forces stormed the Palestinian enclave’s largest medical facility.
“We have nothing to be afraid of or hide,” Al Jazeera Arabic quoted al-Qudra as saying early on Wednesday.
Al-Qudra earlier said that dozens of Israel soldiers had entered the hospital’s emergency department building, while tanks surrounded the medical complex.
According to medical staff, an estimated 650 patients remain in the hospital. Between 5,000 and 7,000 displaced civilians are also trapped inside the hospital grounds and under constant fire from Israeli snipers and drones, according to the health ministry in Gaza.
