Ukraine terrorist tactics delay peace efforts: Russia

The terrorist actions by Kiev aggravate the crisis in Ukraine and delay the settlement of disputes and the achievement of peace, Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, has said amid Ukraine’s drone attacks against Russia.

“The use of terror methods by the Kiev regime is a factor that aggravates the Ukrainian crisis and delays a peace settlement. Also, it is known that weapons and equipment supplied to Ukraine by Western sponsors are often used to carry out terrorist attacks, which makes them direct accomplices to all these crimes,” she said.

Zakharova went on to say that the term “regime sponsoring of terrorism” or “state sponsor of terrorism” that is actively used in the West is exactly what the West is doing with Ukraine today. The spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the West strongly supports the terrorist activities of Ukraine.

At the same time, she noted that Ukraine’s frequent use of terrorist methods recently was mainly due to the apparent failure of counterattacks by the country’s armed forces.

In recent days, Russia reported a Ukrainian drone attack in a border region, striking a police station but causing no casualties.

The overnight drone strike in Bryansk came just a day after Russian authorities reported shooting down or suppressing with electronic warfare multiple Ukrainian drones that had separately targeted the country’s capital of Moscow and the Crimean Peninsula.

Russia on Sunday said the drones that targeted Moscow slightly damaged two office buildings in the capital and briefly shut an international airport.

In a statement, the Russian defense ministry said Ukraine’s “attempted terrorist attack” had been “thwarted”. The defense ministry added there had been no injuries in the attack.

Moscow is about 500 kilometers from the border with Ukraine and has been targeted several times.

A drone attack on the Kremlin in May was described as an attempt on President Vladimir Putin’s life. Kiev denied carrying out the drone attack on the Kremlin.

Russian officials have repeatedly slammed Ukraine’s drone attacks on Moscow which have been largely repelled. Russia’s foreign ministry has blamed the US and its NATO allies for providing Kiev with arms for such attacks.

Russia has warned the West against arming Kiev’s “Nazi” regime with weapons, saying it would only add to the losses.
