Court settles case regarding Hazara Shiite target killing on assurance of Federal Government

Shiite News: The hearing of the suo motu notice against the target killing of the Shia Hazara community of Quetta was held today in the Supreme Court.

The case was heard by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial. The court abolished the condition of verification of MNA, MPA or Chairman Union Council for making passports and identity cards of Shiite Hazara community.

The court said that members of the Hazara community coming from Europe and Australia should not be harassed at Quetta Airport.

Apart from this, Ministry of Interior Balochistan was ordered to cooperate with the government for the recovery of kidnapped Ali Raza.

During the hearing, Justice Athar Minallah inquired from the Hazara community’s lawyer that the purpose for which this suo moto notice was taken was fulfilled. Have the problems of the Hazara community been resolved?
On which the lawyer told the court that the issues related to bank accounts and NADRA have not been resolved yet.

The Additional Attorney General said that the federal government has submitted its reply. All the problems of creating bank accounts, passports and identity cards of the Hazara community have been solved.

Now Hazara community does not need any kind of verification to get passport and identity card. Justice Athar Minallah said that no citizen, especially the Hazara community, should be harassed.

Chief Justice Umer Ata Bandial said that the federal government has submitted a letter related to the solution of the Hazara community’s problems.

The Supreme Court does not want to pursue the case further after the federal government’s assurance. The case was disposed of by the Supreme Court on the assurance of the federal government to solve the problems of the Hazara community.
