MWM lambasts govt on failing to redress flood victims
Shiite News: Chairman Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) Pakistan, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri said that the government seems to have failed completely in the rehabilitation of the flood victims in different parts of the country.
“Hundreds of families waiting for relief under the open sky have been left helpless, instead of playing a responsible role in providing life necessities, food items and medical facilities to the affected families, the government’s emphasis is on retaliating against the opponents” said in a press statement.
He said if the federal and provincial governments had taken early steps, the poor families would not have faced such a great loss of life and property.
He said that the government should not try to run the work by mere lip service. The damages of the victims should be redressed on an emergency basis.
People who have been displaced and forced to take shelter under the open sky should be provided with shelter homes in the style of earthquake zones.
A slight delay in providing food and other relief items and dealing with medical problems can lead to an even bigger humanitarian tragedy.
He said that charitable organizations, religious groups, volunteers and youth should actively participate in relief activities with a national spirit.
On the instructions of Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari, MWM has started taking practical steps to rehabilitate the victims and provide them with the necessary facilities.
