Shiite News: Member of Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM), Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly and Parliamentary Secretary Sheikh Akbar Ali Rajai said that no bill regarding alcohol and opium has been presented in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, as long as Nasir Millat and Mujahid Millat soldiers are present in the assembly. The bill cannot be passed, we will be cut off, but there is no question of passing such a bill.

He said that an act was presented in the assembly for approval, which included provisions for the imposition of taxes on various items and one of them was related to the sale of alcohol. In other words, if a non-Muslim runs a liquor business, it will be taxed, however, liquor business is not permitted.

He said that according to Pakistan, only non-Muslims are given license for liquor business, no Muslim can even get a license.

Now in the Act, it is said that any licensed non-Muslim liquor business will be subject to tax. In Gilgit-Baltistan, if there is a non-Muslim, then the matter of the license ends. Then how was the liquor business allowed?

He further said that in short, no bill of any kind of license was presented. Tax bill was presented in the Revenue act. The fake rumors of legalizing the sale of liquor in Gilgit-Baltistan are just based on malice and misunderstanding.
