Shiite News: An important meeting was held between the delegation of Milli Yekjahti Council (MYC) and the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan on the issue of release of Jafaria prisoners of Gilgit. The meeting discussed the release of prisoners of the October 13 tragedy.

A delegation of Milli Yekjahti Council Pakistan led by Jamaat-e-Islami Vice President Liaquat Baloch called on Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid on Saturday.

Provincial Ministers Raja Zakaria Maqpoon, Haji Gulbar Khan, Javed Ali Manwa, Provincial Advisor Syed Sohail Abbas and Special Assistant Ilyas Siddiqui were also present in the meeting.

Talking on the occasion, Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid appreciated the role of the MYC Pakistan in promoting religious and sectarian harmony and brotherhood across the country.

The Chief Minister said that the establishment of law and order was the first requirement for the sustainable development of the entire country, especially the GB. Political Platforms can play a key role in uniting all schools of thought in society.

Khalid Khurshid said that the government was looking into the issue of captives. InshaAllah (if God willing), they are trying to resolve this issue in accordance with law and justice. The delegation of the MYC assured all possible cooperation for the establishment of law and order and promotion of communal harmony.

On the other hand, protests for the release of captives have spread across Gilgit-Baltistan. Gilgit has been completely jammed for the last two days. The people have blocked the main highways of Gilgit city by holding sit-ins at various places.

Earlier, the families of the captives had been holding sit-ins at Captain Zameer Abbas Shaheed Chowk for the past four days, but the sit-ins and protests spread across Gilgit as no satisfactory response was received from the government.
