Shiite News: Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar visited the seminary of Jamiat-ul-Muntazar Model Town Lahore. He also met Allama Hafiz Syed Riaz Hussain Najafi, President of the Federation of Shia Madrassas of Pakistan, Allama Muhammad Afzal Haideri, Secretary General, Allama Syed Mureed Hussain Naqvi, Allama Muhammad Hussain Akbar and other Ulema.
Talking to the Governor of Punjab, the Ulema expressed concern over the controversial changes in the curriculum under the title of uniform curriculum and said that it was important for national security and unity of the Islamic Ummah that the point of view of all schools of thought should be reflected in the national curriculum. Some carelessness has been appeared in the preparation which was not absolutely necessary.
They said that if this new controversial curriculum was implemented, not only sectarianism would flourish but it will also be promoted in the name of religious harmony. They demanded that the government formulate a national curriculum on which all schools of thought would agree. Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar assured that he would draw the attention of the concerned departments to a uniform national curriculum so that no Islamic school of thought would object.
